Wendouree West Recreation Reserve

The Wendouree West Recreation Reserve required an innovative design to transform it into a multi-functional community hub. The challenge was to create a sustainable open space that connected various facilities, age groups and allowed for future expansions.

We worked in close collaboration with City Collective to design the open space around the soccer pavilion, community hub and Men's Shed. The design included a car park and footpaths connecting all facilities. Infill planting, including rain gardens, was integrated to soften the hard surface pavements and incorporate a water sensitive design approach. Permeable surfaces were utilised where possible to minimise water runoff. Additionally, areas were allocated for potential expansions, such as additional car parking, play spaces, and a productive display garden.

The Wendouree West Recreation Reserve is set to become a vibrant hub of activity, with a sustainable landscape that connects key community facilities. The design also accommodates future growth, ensuring the reserve can evolve to meet the community's needs.
