Thomson Hay's approach to landscape planning and design considers aesthetic, ecological, economic and cultural elements of the landscape while acknowledging the sense of place.

Thomson Hay Landscape Architects (originally Thomson Hay and Associates Pty. Ltd.) was established in Ballarat in July 1991. Having been fortunate to have grown-up ‘in the country’ and having worked in a small regional town as graduate landscape architects, the original directors, David Hay and Don Thomson realised the importance of providing country communities with specific and relevant landscape design services. At the time there were very few private landscape architects working in regional Victoria.

One of our key objectives from the beginning of our practice is the provision of high-quality landscape design services to rural and regional communities throughout south-eastern Australia. 

We now have six landscape architects on our team, with experience ranging from graduate-level to 30+ years. All directors and staff live regionally, are passionate about rural and regional Australia and contribute to their respective regional communities. As a small landscape design company, we are pleased to be able to provide our staff with opportunities to work on exciting, interesting and important regional projects.

We have strong landscape design experience with projects throughout Victoria and southern New South Wales, ranging from urban to regional parks including extensive community and traditional owner engagement, master planning, concept design, documentation, contract administration and management plans. Our diverse client base includes Local & State Government agencies, developers, the corporate sector and private individuals and companies.

Thomson Hay Landscape Architects are affiliated with the Australian Institute of Landscape Architects (AILA) as David Hay, Heidi Mikulic, Claire Reynolds, Georgia Carroll & Yolanda Li are Registered Landscape Architects.
