Swan Hill Art Gallery

The landscape plans for the Swan Hill Art Gallery were prepared in association with Brandrick Architects, the Swan Hill Rural City Council and following consultation with the traditional custodians of the land.  Our design seeks to enhance the overall visitor experience and ensure that tourism within this precinct continues to thrive.  The new gallery extension has been developed on the site of the existing gallery and will ultimately enhance the capacity for holding major exhibitions, outdoor art installations and providing improved indoor – outdoor gathering spaces.

The planting design at the gallery entry symbolises the weaving pattern of woven baskets created by local artists using indigenous rushes, which are displayed within the gallery.  Other features include a striking paving design symbolising the alignment of the Murray River, a yarning circle, carved timber play equipment featuring local animals and a cumbungi-themed boundary fence.

Connectivity with key nearby tourist attractions such as the Spoons Restaurant, PS Gem, the Pioneer Settlement, and the Heart Beat of the Murray have been carefully considered.
