Following extensive consultation with stakeholders and the local community, Thomson Hay Landscape Architects, in association with Morton Dunn Architects and Finding North, prepared a master plan for Royal Park in Buninyong.

The vision for Royal Park is to develop user friendly and multipurpose spaces that will benefit a variety of community groups and promote sustainability. A key challenge of the design was to create a balance between active / structured and passive / unstructured uses.

The scope of design works included:

  • provision of senior and junior soccer pitches
  • siting and lay out of a new community building
  • north facing building entrance and plaza to provide a hub for community events
  • community gardens and food forest
  • community gathering space with shelter and cooking facilities
  • children’s natural play space
  • consideration of environmental sustainability including reuse of rain water roof run off and stormwater run off

In June 2020 funding for the construction of the 2 pitches, irrigation and drainage, fencing, landscaping and lighting was announced. Construction will continue throughout the year to be ready for next year’s soccer season. See more information here
