Key requirements of the design were that the landscape areas were safe and conveyed a sense of comfort and homeliness.
The final design is simple and robust with a balance between hard and soft landscape areas. Ramps, paths and landings provided compliant access and encouraged people to go outdoors. The landscape design of the courtyards includes split level paving, seating, ramps, garden planting and small trees to maximise privacy and concurrent use by a number of groups. Trees and low hedges soften the built forms and plant species include familiar garden plants to create a feeling of home.
