Buninyong Streetscape

Client

Collaboration

The project focused on identifying and improving accessibility, amenity and safety issues in the older sections of Warrenheip Street and Learmonth Street. We collaborated with Axiom Consulting Engineers to provide streetscapes that meet modern expectations while being sympathetic to the area's heritage.

The streetscape upgrades covered Warrenheip Street (east side) between Eyre Street and Forest Street, as well as a section of Learmonth Street. Key features included improved pedestrian access, reduced gradients, outdoor activation and dining areas, upgraded streetscape furniture, bollards for traffic safety, enhanced parking including DDA parking flush with the sidewalk, new street trees, increased greening with trellises and vines, and bluestone entry walls.

The response has been extremely positive, with the City of Ballarat News reporting “There has already been strong feedback from the community that these works are making a big difference in improving access to businesses and the overall aesthetics of the beautiful township” (Cr Daniel Moloney, Mayor of the City of Ballarat).
