Bald Hill Summit

The Bald Hill Summit trail is designed to capture 360º views over Darley, Bacchus Marsh and beyond. The trail will provide a rewarding lap for visitors who have ascended the 1000+ Steps and will be accessible for visitors who start from the Swans Road trailhead.

The proposed trail circumnavigates the summit of Bald Hill, leading trail users on a journey of 4 accessible viewing points with shelters, seating and interpretive signage. The stunning panoramic views include:

• Pentland Hills, Korkuperrimul Creek, and Werribee Gorge.
• You Yangs, Brisbane Ranges and Mount Anakie. Views to and from Western Highway.
• Telford Park, Darley and Bacchus Marsh township and Melbourne CBD.
• Lerderderg Gorge and valley, Mount Blackwood, Pyrete Range, Mount Bullengarook and distant views to Mount Macedon. The Darley township and quarries are also visible in the foreground.

A key consideration in our design process was to create a welcoming, accessible and inclusive experience for all trail users. The trail maintains a grade of 1:20 or less to comply with disability access requirements. Since the site is identified as an area of cultural heritage sensitivity, we have taken extra precautions with design and construction to preserve cultural heritage artifacts.
