The Murray Downs Nature Reserve is a relatively untouched piece of Murray River frontage with lovely old Red Gums and an ephemeral, low lying marsh area of dense young eucalyptus. In 2019 Murray River Council approached us with the view to make the reserve land a more accessible public space for the growing community and to site a new boat ramp and associated facilities.

In 2019, we completed the first iteration of the masterplan which MRC successfully used in a state government grant application to fund the boat ramp area as the first stage of development. MRC returned to THLA to undertake the next stage of detailed design for construction.


In 2020, we presented the masterplan back to the community via an online survey and amended the final masterplan to include additional features from the community feedback. 


The masterplan includes:

Stage 1  -  Entry road, Boat ramp and associated infrastructure including carparking, boat trailer parking and a new toilet block


Stage 2- Walking trail loop, Tree planting, Screening planting & revegetation, Picnic areas, pedestrian entry upgrade


Future stages will include:

  • Playground with Shelter and BBQ area
  • Basketball court
  • Pump Track 
  • Pontoon 
  • Wetland / swale incorporated with upcoming subdivision development
