Buloke Playspace Masterplans

Client

Buloke Shire Council

Collaboration

This project develops concept plans for five reserves across the Buloke Shire to provide the Council with a structured plan for the staged upgrade and renewal of the play areas in the parks.

The proposals include:

  • A feature element or piece of equipment to create 5 unique parks
  • Areas for younger children
  • A youth space area or element
  • Integration of nature play elements with traditional equipment

We developed an online survey for each of the parks to request community feedback of what types of play and which equipment would be best suited to each of the parks. All of the parks are different sizes and have different community uses. The challenge was to use equipment selected by the community to create effective and sensitive site designs that integrate with other park features such as picnic areas, memorials and swimming pools.

Each park was presented to a targeted group of local stakeholders before finalising the layout and equipment selections. Each park was then broken down into manageable blocks for a staged implementation program with associated detailed costing breakdowns.

The potential impact of these works is significant to the health and wellbeing of residents and will increase the number of visitors that stop in the towns.

In 2021, BSC came back to THLA to progress the concept plans to documentation for tender and construction. Playground construction is expected in 2023
